Service Meet & Greet

We did it! Our first Schelastic meeting was spent serving at Mission Arlington. We all arrived together and we were greeted by wonderful project coordinators who were very gracious in thanking us for our help right from the beginning. In all my years volunteering at the mission, Mrs. Tilley, the founder of Mission Arlington, has never hesitated to come greet and thank us personally for coming to lend a helping hand. Gotta love Mrs. Tilley with all her determination!

After greeting everyone we were told of our assignments and we were praying that they would be INDOORS on a 103° F day! The first job was not, but by the grace of God we were under an amazingly large tree with a wonderful breeze blowing. Our assignment was to load up a van with some carnival items that were stored in a shed. We loaded bounce houses, a snow cone machine, yummy snow cone flavoring, a bar-b-q grill with all the needed supplies and more! With all the students and the five parents that joined us we got the job done in a jiffy!

Mission Arlington has a facility that is about 1200 sq ft or so.  It is used to bring groups to experience church service and bible classes as well as cook meals for those groups and care for their children. Our second and last job was to clean the entire facility from top to bottom after having been used by thousands of people throughout the summer. No telling how many low income families received the hand of God through encouragement, healing, feedings and most importantly salvation! We were happy to be a part of it!  After all Matthew 25:34-40 says:

“34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36 I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’

37 “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? 38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked a clothe You? 39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40 And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’ “ –  (NKJV.)

Afterward we headed over to the Twisted Root Burger Company a couple of  blocks down from the mission. They are known for the “twisted” flavors they add to their root beer and wild game burgers including kangaroo! I don’t think anyone braved anything but beef in our group. We got a perfectly large table where we all sat together without a reservation or a fight! Not bad for a Friday! Lol God is soooo good!
