Book Review: Gods at WarPosted: April 4, 2013
By Kyle Idleman
Have you ever wondered why you haven’t received your spiritual breakthrough? Is it possible that we are worshipping the wrong god? Kyle Idleman breaks down the various gods that seep into our lives and quietly take over as we unassumingly hand over our power. Pastor Idleman is a Pastor at Southeast Christian Church in Louisville, Kentucky, the fourth largest church in America. I have seen him on TV and read his other book Not a Fan. He breaks down the different gods that we are so easily susceptible to when we aren’t consciously applying the Word to our lives. Food, sex, entertainment, success, money, achievement, romance, family and “me” are the chapters that he includes as he clearly delivers his message on breaking down these true joy and blessing stealers. I enjoyed Gods at War. It is an easy read that help will help us swiftly but gently realize that taking a look at yourself is vital to moving forward in peace. Anyone who is wondering what they might be missing in order to do so will realize that it is worth the search within to appease our jealous one true God. He is worth every moment of any cleansing effort we make in fasting from anything that would try to separate us from the life He has for us.
