I just love Dani’s advice! This is another tip I teach my students through the entrepreneurship class I offer here at SEC and realized this is also good “parent food!” Enjoy! When you have success using these tips tell us about it!
Happy Monday to you! I hope you are ready to make it a great week!
I’m really excited about what we get to talk about today. There are some very simple, easy things you can do that will completely transform your finances. How do I know? Because I have given these exact same tips to tens of thousands of others, and they have watched their finances change right in front of their eyes.
Like Renae, who literally found an extra $2,500 lying around each month (I’m going to show you where in just a minute!) and paid off $158K of debt in just over 2 years. Or Stuart, who realized he had an extra $600 going to waste every month, and he paid off $20K of debt in 2 years.
I promise you, if you ask Renae or Stuart how it feels to be free from the burden and the torment of debt, they will tell you there is just nothing like it! Nothing can replace the feeling of financial freedom. Nothing can compare to the feeling of knowing you owe nothing to anyone. Can you imagine???
Without debt and financial pressure, you would have more money in savings. You would have money to invest. You would pay cash for the things you buy. You would be building wealth for generations to come.
Without debt, you would increase your business savings. You would have assets instead of debt. You could give your employees raises and bonuses. You could donate to more charities. You could even start your own charity!
You could go on an absolute dream vacation to Bora Bora. You could travel the world and eat the most incredible, amazing, flavorful foods from all corners of the earth. You could do all of the things you always dreamed of doing, but couldn’t do because of your financial limitations.
I know what you’re thinking. “Yeah whatever, Dani. It’s nice to think about, but you don’t understand. We can barely make ends meet as it is. It’s just silly to be thinking of all those other things.”
Remember earlier when I told you about Renae and Stuart? They both have an amazing story of going from totally enslaved by debt to breaking free from that bondage! And guess what… You’re next!
I have 3 very simple tips I want to share with you today that are really going to show you some places where you may be losing money:
- Avoid catalogs! Get rid of department store catalogs and get off of email lists today. CANCEL your catalogs from Victoria’s Secret, Apple, electronic stores, nutrition stores, and the rest of the traps where you shop. Think about it… The only reason they have your address or your email address is to sell you something. These catalogs and emails are nothing but sales letters.
- Sell your stuff! Have a garage sale. You don’t need tons of stuff! It just takes time to manage, dust, and keep clean and organized. So sell it! Use the money to pay off debt or to invest. I once had a garage sale, and we made $2,600 in one weekend in my tiny little town. I also sold a bunch of my clothes and made $2,000. That’s $4,600 from STUFF! Do I miss any of it? No way! Heck, I don’t even remember what I sold! Neither will you…
- Eat what is in your pantry! Do not go to the grocery store until all the food in your house is gone. For most people that is at least 30 days. (I’ve even had clients who said they didn’t go to the grocery store for 6 months!) See, we have been trained to think that our refrigerators and pantries are supposed to be well-stocked. But, my friend, you have been duped by advertising. If you do not go to the grocery store for the next 30 days and eat everything in your pantry, that is CASH in your kitchen! Take the money you would have spent on food and attack your debt with it.
You really have to stop and ask yourself, “Is this stuff really worth the bondage, the hardship, and the struggle of debt?” I’m telling you, it’s NOT! Like I said earlier, NOTHING can replace the feeling of financial freedom.
My friend, you were designed for wealth, not for bondage. You have a destiny and a calling of total freedom on your life. So it’s time to step up and step into that freedom! And it starts with these small, simple steps.
You know as well as I do that there are millions of people who are struggling financially, wondering how they’re going to put food on the table, and desperately looking for help. Even right now as you read this, there are people you and I both know who need to read this message.
You could be the answer to someone’s prayer by simply passing this message along to them. So please share this post on Facebook and Twitter. Print it out and pass it around your office, your church, or your kids’ school. You do your part and I’ll do mine, and together I believe we can help to turn our nation and our world around.
Other than that, I hope you have a really great Monday. And until next time, God bless!
In great faith,
I wanted to share an email I received from Dani Johnson’s mailing list. I hope it’s good “parent food” for you.
February 22, 2013
Okay, so picture this: It’s Saturday morning and you’re standing in the checkout line at the grocery store. In the line next to you, there is a mom with 3 kids. One kid is standing in front of the candy shelf saying, “MOOOMMMM, can I have some candy? PLEEEEASE???” When Mom says no, he starts to cry and throw a fit as he says, “You’re mean!!! I don’t like you anymore!”
The other 2 kids are screaming at each other, still arguing about the best kind of cereal and tugging on Mom’s arm, begging her to get both of their favorites. She finally caves in and says, “FINE! Go get it,” just to shut them up. Both kids take off running at full speed back to the cereal aisle. Mom looks around, totally embarrassed by her kids’ behavior. Frazzled and humiliated, she finishes checking out and leaves the store as quickly as possible.
We’ve all seen that before. If you have kids, you’ve probably experienced it yourself. And why does it happen? Because of a lack of preparation.
“HELP! My child is out of control!”
Whether it’s the terrible twos, the thundering threes, or the scary seventeens, it’s not uncommon for parents to feel like their children are out of control. In fact, in some circles, a parent who doesn’t feel that way is a rare find. But take a deep breath and know that you’re not in this alone! There is a proven system that can take your children from out of control to calm, cool, and collected. Here’s how.
If you take your kids into a public setting (like a grocery store or a restaurant) without preparing them, then you are basically telling them that anything goes! They are wild and crazy. They are spilling things and throwing things and yelling. But you did nothing to prevent those mistakes. In fact, you actually provoked those mistakes by not preparing your children ahead of time.
It’s important to talk to your kids about situations and behaviors before they are faced with them. All children want to succeed, and all children want to please their parents. When you prepare them for the situation they are about to walk into, you are setting them up for success instead of failure.
So here’s what I do…
Anytime we take our kids anywhere, whether it’s a restaurant, doctor’s office, grocery store, church, or any other public place, we use a few very easy steps to prepare them.
First, we have a “pre-game talk”. This lets them know what they are about to experience and lays out the guidelines they are expected to adhere to. In this talk, we make sure they understand where we are going and what the environment is (Is it a fancy restaurant? A hotel? An airport? A friend’s house?), who will be there (Mostly kids? Mostly adults? What kind of people will they encounter?), and what their conduct should be (Quiet? Inside voices? Good manners? Patient?).
I encourage them, telling them, “I’m so proud of you. We are going to have a great time! I am confident that you can follow directions, obey, and set a great example for others to follow, just as you have done in the past.” I also let them know the consequences if they do not obey.
And guess what? They do exactly as they were asked to do!
After we leave, we have another talk – a “Post-game talk”. This is just as important as the pre-game talk. This is when we celebrate their success! “You guys did great! Thank you for following directions!” I verbally reward the behaviors I want to see more of. I tell them that they honored me by following directions. I encourage each of them individually for their achievements and efforts.
And what is the result of this? Their excitement level goes through the roof, and when the next opportunity to be in a public setting comes around, they’re ready to do it all again!
This is a dynamically different kind of situation as the one I described to you at the beginning of this email, wouldn’t you agree?
So do you see how important it is to communicate with your children? They really do want to please you. They really do want to succeed. And if you prepare and motivate them beforehand, they will step up and do the right thing.
Preparing our children on how to respond properly in different environments teaches them how to honor us, themselves, and those who share the environment with them. This sets them up for success. How? They are being trained to look ahead, make decisions, and plan their time wisely.
And here’s the kicker… This doesn’t just apply to kids! This goes for adults, too. Can you imagine if the people in your company knew the proper way to respond instead of flying off the handle and saying something stupid or walking away because of some big fat ego trip? Imagine if you were groomed in this fashion, . Imagine how much more successful your life would be if you knew how to look ahead at what you’re about to walk into instead of blindly walking into a situation and reacting inappropriately. I’m here to tell you that it’s not too late!
I can’t tell you how excited I am that you have this information in your hands today, . This has helped to shape our family, our companies, and our community. We’ve heard so many stories from people who have used this strategy with their own kids, their students, their staff or co-workers, and their entire companies. I can’t wait to see you do the same!
Please take a minute to forward this email to every parent, grandparent, teacher, or babysitter you know. Send it to your friends, family, and co-workers. Share it on Facebook and Twitter.
